Policies

We work hard to accommodate our clients to the best of our ability. All of our appointment confirmations are sent via text or email. Please honor your appointment.

Cancellation Policy
Due to the high demand for appointments, Slate Studio has initiated a 100% service fee penalty for late notice cancellations and no-shows. If you must cancel or reschedule please do so at least 24 hours before your appointment time to avoid these fees. We appreciate your understanding!

Late Arrival Policy
Arriving late will cut into your session time and may result in additional charges if your appointment has to be cancelled. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after your appointment time, your appointment may be canceled and you will be charged 50% of the service fee. Out of respect for other guests, we cannot cut into another guest’s appointment time to make up for your lost appointment minutes if you are late.

Child Policy
Please do not bring children to your appointment. During your appointments we want to provide the best service and give you the individual attention you deserve, so we will not be able to supervise children. Please understand that this is for your safety and the safety of your children.

Sickness or Family Emergency
If you, or another person in your household, has an infectious or contagious illness, please contact us as soon as possible to reschedule your appointment for a later date. For your safety and that of staff and other clients, please do not come to your appointments sick. If it is assumed you are currently sick, your appointment may be cut short or cancelled and rescheduled for when you are healthy again. A one-time allowance of last minute cancellation or reschedule will be permitted for sickness or family emergency. After that, the cancellation and no show policy is in effect.

Cell Phones
Should be turned onto silent mode and put away in order to minimize distractions and potential hazards—this is especially crucial for eye services which involves the use of tweezers and adhesives around the delicate eye area, and therefore requires a great deal of focus and precision on the part of our technicians. Please be courteous and respectful of your technician’s time and work by keeping your phone on silent until you have left the studio. We reserve the right to refuse service if you use your cell phone.

Lash Extension FAQ’s

Lash Lift FAQ’s

What are eyelash extensions?
Semi-permanent eyelash extensions are synthetic lashes that are adhered to individual, natural eyelashes.  Unlike false or strip lashes, extensions are attached one by one to individual eyelashes and NOT to your skin. Extensions enhance your natural beauty by adding length and fullness to your existing lashes.  They allow you to wake up looking radiant and ready to go, without even a swipe of mascara!

How long do they last?
When properly cared for, your eyelash extensions will last until your natural eyelashes shed as they normally would.  Exact timing varies because of genetics and lifestyle, however the average shedding of natural lashes takes place at the rate of two to five lashes per day. To maintain your look, a fill every 2-3 weeks is suggested.

Are they safe?
Yes. When properly applied, eyelash extensions are a safe and convenient alternative to wearing mascara and strip lashes.

How do I prepare for my appointment?
Please come in with no eye makeup and please do not drink caffeine before your appointment. We want you to be able to rest and possibly take a lash nap so that we can work our magic!

What happens during an appointment?
You will lay on one of our extremely comfortable chairs and we will examine your natural lashes. We will discuss the look you want to achieve and inform you about what is safe for your natural lashes as well as what will last the longest. We will cover your lower lashes for protection, then begin the process of individually adhering extensions to your natural lashes. Please be prepared to be laying down for 1-3 hours (depending on the appointment scheduled). This procedure is safe, painless and relaxing. Lash naps are welcomed and encouraged!

How do I care for my eyelash extensions?
Caring for your extensions is simple!  Avoid touching your lashes with your fingers, rubbing your eyes, and sleeping on your face.  Be gentle with them, and sleep mindfully! Do not curl them, and avoid all oil-based & waterproof products near your eyes (makeup, makeup remover, sunscreen, eye creams, etc). These will break down the adhesive and the extensions will fall off prematurely, costing you more money in maintenance. We also want you to be careful to not let salt water or chlorinated water set on your lashes too long; this can cause premature lash loss, as well. Last but not least…CLEAN YOUR LASHES DAILY!

Can I wear eye makeup?
Yes you can! Please use eyeliners that are not oil-based as this will clump and weaken the bond between the lash extension and your natural lash, and can cause premature fallout (we strongly discourage mascara). When you remove your makeup, please be gentle and do not use q-tips. ***Q-Tips are made of natural fibers and it can cause an exothermic reaction which can burn your skin.

How do I clean my lash extensions?
Cleaning your lashes is incredibly important to retain your lashes. Not cleansing your lashes can lead to skin, makeup & debris buildup at your lash line and can cause allergic reactions. Please use an oil-free lash extension cleanser and a clean brush to clean your lashes. Pump the foaming cleanser on each of your eyes and use a wet brush to wipe in a downward motion, please be sure to get in between the lashes. Once you feel they are clean, rinse your eyes and lightly blot dry. You can use a blow dryer on the “cool” setting to dry your lashes and be sure to brush them out. Soft, flexible, fluffy lashes are always the goal!

I had my extensions applied somewhere else. Will Slate Studio do my fill?
Sure! Since lash styling and technique can vary so widely from salon to salon, we require clients with lashes from an outside salon to book a New Client Fill.  This service provides enough time to fully assess your existing extensions and determine the best route for you!
To preserve the health of your natural lashes, we may not be able to fill the existing work (generally in the case of improper installation) and may instead recommend a removal and application of a fresh full set.  Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions!

Help! I don't like my lashes from somewhere else.  What can you do?
We are happy to help! If the lashes are unsafely applied, we may recommend removal and replacement with a fresh, customized Full Set. Please contact us to discuss as this is a case by case basis.

What is the lash lift process?
The natural lashes adhere to silicone shields with a gentle water-soluble
glue. Then, a series of different lotions are applied to the natural lashes to create the lifting effect. Lastly, a conditioner is applied to keep the lashes soft. The service takes about 1 hour.

How long will a lash lift last?
Up to 6 to 8 weeks!

Who is a good candidate for this service?
Everyone is a candidate for a lash lift if they have healthy natural lashes. This service is especially perfect for the person who is happy with the length and thickness of their own natural lashes but wants to make their eyes look more open without the daily use of an eyelash curler.
